Going Green?

Utah just raised it Building Code for Attic Insulation to a R-38. All tho the federal code for attic insulation says that for our Clement region we souled have a R-50. So to help with this problem the Public Service Commission of Utah has donated a large sum of money to Rocky Mountain Power and Questar Gas company so they can offer rebates to there customers who upgrade there insulation. 70% of all heat loss from our houses is threw our attics. so it only makes sense to take advantage if this. Heating and cooling your home is the biggest source of energy consumption, so increasing the insulation you have in your home helps lower your utility bills. Also help save your AC unit by reducing its work load. An over worked AC unit wear out much faster than normal. It makes sense to save money in our bad economy.
So what does this mean for you? You can upgrade the insulation in your attic for free. How it works is Spencer comes and measures how much insulation you have in your attic and figures out how much more you qualify for. He has his guys come out and spray new insulation in your attic. Spencer then Submits all the paperwork into Rocky Mountain power and Questar for you. In about 8 weeks your rebate will show up for the full amount of the cost of the insulation. So you do have to pay for the insulation up front and you can put it on a credit card. In the end the insulation ends up being free for you. There are restrictions that apply but so far he has only been in one house that did not qualify for it.
Not only is the rebate good for attic insulation it valid on basement ceilings, walls, and crawl spaces.
Spencer has done about 30 houses so far. And all of them have noticed a big difference. Even if you live in a newer house or a old home they probably still need more insulation.
